We have been getting asked a lot recently on the best way to clean your pop up gazebo.
Firstly, the best thing you can do for the cleanliness for your Poptent is prevention. By this you don’t need to avoid events or putting it up in a spot that it might get dirty, but by wiping away any marks as soon as you notice them. Cleaning any marks early prevents them from bedding in to the fabric and reduces the risk of any stains., so we have put together this short guide on the do's and the do not's for cleaning your Poptent.
If marks have bedded in to the fabric it is best to open the fabric up and steep it in warm water with car wash detergent. Be careful when doing this as water that is too hot will remove the PVC coating on the outside of the tent which makes the gazebo waterproof. Gently scrub the dirt with a cloth with a light pressure, not too rough as this may remove the PVC coating. We have found car wash detergent to be the best to use but high shine floor cleaner has also worked really well.
For fabric that has been stored wet and has subsequently been covered in damp, this is very difficult to fully restore to the original condition and in most cases will not be possible. To prevent damp from forming ensure that you allow all fabric to dry before storing, letting it dry out the next day will prevent this from happening. If your fabric has damp marks, try going through the process above, it may take a few attempts but it may take the roughness out of the fabric.
We have recently been informed of people who have removed the waterproofing from their fabric by using boiling water from a kettle and putting the fabric into a washing machine. We would urge you not to do this as it can remove the PVC coating on all fabric which makes the fabric lose its waterproofing.
